While in Motown to see some Girl Talk and other performing artists (it rocked, really, it did) the Bells put us up for the night. The following day we were greeted by a cicada freshly bursting from his old appearance. A good omen for we shedders of old habits and now-useless thoughts.

I helped Lil' bro Mo get a new wireless comm. device yesterday, lending to his developing life in MOtown (glad yer going back fo' mo' dude), the day before the legendary start of former #1 (one) Party School: WVU! Alas, these days WVU has sadly slipped from #1 (one) to #4 (four), behind Penn State! What balderdash is this!? Nonetheless, I will follow Mo up to M-town after Hypnoduties today....but for no such things as books, scantrons, scientific anti-realism, and nerve-wracking presentations...no, for much more news-worthy things do I go to my nourishing mother (alma mater): FallFesteroo to watch fresh Freshman get piled into the Univ. Police van (the perfect end to any first day in college), to get some recycling done, pick up a crock-pot for making some serious salves, and chill with Motown's most dangerous long-boarding duo (trio now with Mo), the Bell Boys.

In other exciting happenings, there was a lot of fog in Davis this morning. A lot.

Andreas W. and his Porsche Posse loitered at the HypnoLot last weekend and drew some oooohs and aaahs...but they really don't compare to those two less shiny Subarus in the back.....they couldn't keep up with Cade and I as we raced to Lindy Point and back...Asian Auto Strikes Again!!!

And looking back at former victory reminds me, Ultimate Frisbee occurs every Monday, even if has rained that day, at the Davis-Thomas Elementary Middle School field at 5pm. The first season's pick-up soccer started last Tuesday, I think that we had some serious 6 on 6 going! Great for a first shot. Come on out....we played at the Canaan Valley State Park Nature Center field....but may move to DTEMS...if you care to play, play.

2. Sir Robert H., mycological mystery man, brought boatloads of knowledge about our friendly fungi that so rampantly cover much of this earth.

The Chiptser informed much of the group while Robert was buried in his lens. A few edible specimens were taken to the fry pan and a nice luncheon was had after the mush-hike.

These are just a few of the fun guys found around Freeland Run. That white guy is the notorious Death Angel, or its the Destroying Angel...either way they are to be avoided....meaning don't eat it, silly.

Corey B. is off to make some tea! Looks like the mycelium has already reached into his braaaaain!

This little guy ain't so little compared to his other salamander folk...he eats the others. Nice guy. Chip "Slackburn" B., (is he a herpatologist?) found many varieties of these creek-dwelling dudes. That man knows some things....soak it up people.

2nd Annual Kickball KickThomas's

The Defending Champions of Davis ("The Telluride of the East") wrapped up another slow year of anonymous and cowardly slop-talk about creaming the Champions (wait a minute, Mackie is on Team Joe (Davis))....alas, talk is still cheap, while the Hypno-roids that boosted morale and jaw cpm (chats per minute) are still only affordable to those who choose not to spend each paycheck on booze and (un)organic tobacco. While the moonshiners and doctors residing in healthy yet "soulless" Davis were planning their strategy, team uniform (see pictures), and taunting effectiveness, those unfortunate unsoberables did one thing right and showed up at the correct venue, home-field Davis. I saw that one of them even rode a bike, likely thinking that he would not get caught drinking and driving...hope he made it home.

Hellbender Rob shows us the "team look," while Tonesy thought he had some chest hair to show off, forgetting that it all got burned up by the cigar...MattDoc is likely eyeing Cory's fruit jam in a camo koozie....

While back-catching life-saver MattDoc ponders better ways to make his mouth bulge from a cigar, over-educated and un'erappreciated, local chef Chip "Whackburn" B. forgot that kickers don't really need to wear cups, but he decided to kick with a hand-made version. I guess his Mommy never taught him that its OK to open up and let the light shine in once in a while...it'll kill the mold, too.

Chippy's Joe Spirit(s), choc-fulla local berries, provided Team Joe with much needed hydration, as well as complete oral degermification.

My jam went well recieved until it was mysteriously disappeared by a Miss Nicole, who, through very intense interrogation and daring detective work, begrudgingly returned it to its rightful creator/owner. Thanks sweet thang!

To all who wished to kick balls and have fun at the same time, you will have to wait until next year. Or you can meet up at the DTEMS Soccer Field at 5ish on Wednesday, August 12, for some kicking and real goals*.

*not the ones that get you somewhere in life, but real goals.

Anybody able to witness the amazing blend of local talent and very non-local Tuvan Throat Talent knew in their minds and souls that this was a quite memorable moment for all the moments that the Fiddle provides, perhaps a first in many respects! Purp Fid does it again! Thanks Thomasonians! I only got about eight (8) seconds of footage here b/c I couldn't sit still and, mainly, didn't have much space left on the memory since them burlesque chicks from the last post captured my fancy....go figure.

Other cool stuff: Ultimate Frisbee tonight at DTEMS Field, 5pm. This Thrusday, August 6, 2nd annual Kick-the-living-shitake-outta-Thomas kickball championship. Come play or watch....or drink. Cracker will be at the Mt. State Brewing Co. this Saturday, August 8....outta be a good show! Some volunteers may be needed to help set-up and tear down...free cover if you help!
